It is the foundation of the modern scientific method. The modern scientific method (invented by the creationist Francis Bacon) is based on the umption that there is a rational God, a God of order, therefore the Universe he created must also be rational and ordered. So we can expect nature to act consistently - making repeatable experiments possible.
