How to preventing hereditary cancer?

My aunt just died of cancer shes 48, and my grandma just got two lumps taken out of her shes in her 70s.I have a really high risk of getting it myself, if not now later on in life. How can you prevent this from happening besides checking yourself and catching the disease early?
