Bearded Dragon hemorrhoid/ rectal prolapse?

I've had my bearded dragon for almost ten years now, and of course as the years go by it is becoming more and more apparent that he is getting old. He is still incredibly active and eats a lot, has all the right lighting, but his (pardon my wording) pooping has been getting weird. The no longer are nice little packages but are becoming smaller and more frequent. Twice in the last two days I've come home to find him struggling to poo and what I ume is rectal prolapse is going on. I give him a bath and a lot of water and after a few minutes it retracts. Is this ok? And I know I should take him to the vet, and I will (I'm just a struggling college student), but is there anything in the meantime that I should do? I took him to a vet about 3 months ago and the doc said he looked good for his age.
