Worried to tell difficult parents about engagement.?

I had this problem with my parents. Mine and my fiances family were against it we basically had to tell them were doing this with and without their support. I told them im not pregnant nor do i plan on getting pregnant. I just let them know we want them in our wedding and life they took it hard until the actual wedding then they had no choice but to accept
