Ovulation prediction tests..?

I am currently on my 9th month of TTC and am getting quite disappointed. After coming off birth control my cycles have become very sparse and irregular which makes it very difficult to conceive. I know when TTC timing is everything. I was considering purchasing ovulation prediction tests to take everyday for a month to not only see if I am indeed ovulating but to help catch that window so I can soon get that BFP! I was just hoping to get some advice/stories from people who have successfully used the tests.
